Makerbot Replicator 2
: The latest Replicator to be released by Makerbot Industries
Last Updated: 21st December 2012
Start Dual Extruding with your Makerbot Replicator today!
Limited numbers available until sold out - new dual extruding model will be $3,360!
Makerbot Industries have established a respected name in the 3D printing industry through their Cupcake and Thing-O-Matic (TOM for short) repraps, which lead the way in desktop printing at an affordable price.
The Replicator is the new model from Makerbot, superceeding the legendary Cupcake and Thing-O-Matic models.
It has a larger build area (about the size of a loaf of bread), and a twin extruder model to allow you to print in two colours simultaneously, or one colour plus a support material such as the water soluble PVA filament.
The Makerbot Replicator looks like taking a giant leap forward again, bringing us what Makerbot are calling Dualstrustion - 2 colour printing!
The MakerBot Replicator™ was released in May 2012, with a choice of single or dual extrusion (2-color printing); a bigger printing footprint, giving you the ability to print things bigger than ever before!

Twin Extruder - Supersceded
Single Extruder - Supersceded!
|Single Verses Double Extruder|
By choosing the dual extrusion option, you'll be able to print with two different colors at the same time. MakerBot Dualstrusion™ unlocks the ability to make beautiful
combinations of colors and opens the door to experimenting with multi-material objects. For example, you could have ABS in one extruder (for your model) and PLA in the
other (for support material). Why would you want to do that? Because you can then pop your model into a caustic soda bath and simply dissolve the support material! Or even better PVA which is water soluble!
This will open up the printing possibilities to print far more intricate models.
Choosing a single extruder makes the machine cheaper for those wanting to explore the power of the MakerBot Replicator™ on a budget; and yes you can Upgrading later from
single to twin extruder later. We are working with Makerbot on this kit at the moment (Sep 2012). We estimate this kit will be around $250. It will be a little
involved to put on, so it is not for the non-mechanically minded!
This machine will come fully assembled by Makerbot in their Brooklyn Botcave. It is inspected when it arrives here, and has its Australian Power cable addedd at that time.
